Joseph Adashek, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Adashek is an award-winning and widely published physician. He received his undergraduate training at UCLA and holds a Doctor of Medicine from Penn State. He performed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University and was awarded a Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at UC Irvine. He has served in many academic leadership positions and chaired numerous hospital committees within his field and currently is the Co-Director of the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Summerlin Medical Center. Dr. Adashek is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is sub-specialty board certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine. He also is Chairman of Maternal/Child Health at Southern Hills Hospital.

Dr. Adashek is married and has one daughter. He loves soccer, racquetball, and piloting.

Paul T. Wilkes, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Wilkes received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Pepperdine University and earned his Doctor of Medicine and performed post-graduate work in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he received numerous honors and awards for academics and research. Dr. Wilkes has served as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nevada and as an Instructor/Fellow in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. In addition to being widely published in respected medical journals and lecturing nationally on perinatal topics, he is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and board certified with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also board certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine and American Board of Gynecology.

The father of three children, Dr. Wilkes loves soccer, triathalons, skiing, and he lives by his motto of “What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?”

Patricia Pierce, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Patricia Pierce received her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. The highly awarded Dr. Pierce then completed her internship, Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship in the University of British Columbia program. She has served in several academic positions and has presented papers at several meetings in the United States and Canada. Skilled in all aspects of perinatal medicine, Dr. Pierce has particular interests in fetal ultrasonography, multiple pregnancy, and pregnancy after fertility treatment. She has worked as a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist in Las Vegas since 1990 and has helped instruct the next generation of physicians and obstetricians in her capacity as an associate professor for the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Pierce was most recently awarded the University of Nevada School of Medicine's 2004 CREOG Award for Resident Teaching. She is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. When leisure time avails, Dr. Pierce enjoys crocheting, horseback riding, and pruning her trees. She has three children, including twins, and has personally experienced a high risk pregnancy.

Van Reid Bohman M.D., FACOG

Dr. Bohman is an award-winning clinician and researcher whose work earned him a significant grant from Merck Sharpe and Dohme pharmaceuticals. A native of Nevada, Dr. Bohman is a graduate of the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed his residency and internship at Baylor College of Medicine. He subsequently received his fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Bohman has presented and published a number of papers including those focusing on substance abuse in the pregnant patient and managing the pregnant patient with metabolic disorders. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine, he is licensed to practice in Nevada, Texas, and Kansas. He was featured in a Discovery Channel special about the care and delivery of sextuplets in Kansas. 

Most recently, Dr. Bohman was the Medical Director of Perinatology Services at Via Christi Regional Medical Center. He is the married father of seven children and believes patients experiencing a high-risk pregnancy deserve both competence as well as compassion. In his free time, Dr. Bohman enjoys keeping fit, gardening, and volunteers as a scoutmaster.

Joel K. Schwartz M.D., FACOG

Board Certified in Ob/Gyn and MFM. Dr. Joel Schwartz received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his residency training at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and subsequently became Fellowship trained in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Schwartz was also an instructor for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Adept at all aspects of treating the high-risk pregnant woman, Dr. Schwartz has a particular interest in intrauterine growth retardation, diabetes, prematurity and the effects of altitude in pregnancy. His research work has been published in Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and been presented at the annual meetings of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Before joining Desert Perinatal Associates, Dr. Schwartz was an attending physician for Porter Adventist Hospital and Parker Adventist Hospital in metro Denver. He currently is board eligible by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He was a college basketball coach prior to attending medical school. Dr. Schwartz has run several marathons, including the Boston and New York City marathons. He is married with two daughters.

Alan D. Bolnick, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Bolnick received his Bachelors of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He subsequently completed his internship and residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital.

After completing his fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Dr. Bolnick was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut. In this capacity he was responsible for the Fetal Echocardiography and CVS programs at the University.

Board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine, Dr. Bolnick's research has been extensively published in medical journals and books. Licensed to practice in several states, he is a member of several elite professional organizations including American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Bolnick's ongoing research in Downs Syndrome screening, Intra-Amniotic Infection, and Preterm labor treatment have earned him peer recognition and respect. In addition, Dr. Bolnick takes great pleasure in teaching Ob/Gyn residents.

New to Nevada, Dr. Bolnick enjoys spending free time with his wife and their daughter, snow skiing, and lifting weights. He is also very active in his synagogue.

Quynh Vo, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Vo received a combined baccalaureate/doctor of medicine degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, an accelerated program for intellectually exceptional students. She completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Subsequently, Dr. Vo pursued her passion for high risk obstetrics with a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, where she was a fellow and clinical instructor for the obstetrics and gynecology residency.

In addition to awards and honors received throughout her training, she has also instructed ultrasound courses, Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, and updates for health departments. She has also presented her research at annual meetings of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and Society for Gynecologic Investigation. Dr. Vo is skilled in all aspects of perinatology, and has a particular interest in prenatal diagnosis, medical diseases in pregnancy, and obstetrical emergencies.

Dr. Vo is Board Certified by both the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Licensed in both Arizona and Nevada, Dr. Vo is new to Nevada but enjoys the southwest desert for the variety of recreation it offers. In her free time, Dr. Vo enjoys reading short stories, and practices Bikram yoga and Pilates.
