THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Patients may be accompanied by up to two friends or family members (please avoid bringing younger children).
• Patients don't need full bladders for ultrasounds.
• Please try to arrive 15 minutes early for your first appointment and allow one hour for an average visit.

ULTRASONOGRAPHY: A PEEK INSIDE

There’s nothing more exciting than getting a sneak peek of an unborn baby, however, ultrasonography or ultrasound is far more than an amusement, it is an important diagnostic tool for the Maternal-Fetal Specialist. In fact, at Desert Perinatal Associates all of our sonographers are certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and also hold certifications in Nuchal Translucency (first trimester screening), Fetal Echo, and have received numerous hours of advanced Perinatal Sonography training. Our sonographers’ also possess an aggregate of nearly 100 years sonography experience so that they can detect even the slightest variance in a pregnancy. What this means is that both you and your baby will be well cared for by both our ultrasonographers and our team of perinatal specialists.

GENETIC COUNSELING: FAMILY TIES

If high-risk pregnancy issues relate to a genetic or inherited condition in the family, genetic counseling can provide information, testing options, and support from our professional staff. Fortunately, patients of Desert Perinatal Associates can be assured of genetic counselors who possess the academic and clinical experience critical to quality patient care. Every patient in need of genetic counseling is provided an individualized reproductive, medical and family history and then followed-up with appropriate testing options such as amniocentesis, blood testing and screening for various disorders. All Desert Perinatal Associate Genetic Counselors are Master's degree prepared in human genetics and counseling and are medically Board Certified or Board Eligible.
